Back to normal

We finally made it home in the evening of Aug. 23rd. It has never felt so good to be home. 2 weeks away from home with a baby out of routine is way too long. We did have a good time but driving got really old after the first 1,000 miles. We did a total of 4,000 - way too much! We will never do that again. :o) Ella did wonderfully in the car though, never made a fuss about getting back in it. Well the first 2 days were spent at G&G Vondal's house. Nellie and Hope came home for the weekend and on Sunday we had the whole family from Boston come to mom's as well. It was great, although Ella didn't know what to think of all the strangers, she became a little clingy.

Ella's favorite thing to do at grandma's- play in her rain buckets!

Ella enjoyed playing on and around the tramp.

In the bucket again!

On Monday we started our next journey up to Calgary, we arrived Tues. evening and was glad to get there. It was nice to look forward to 3 long days without riding in the car. On Wednesday we went to Banff which was an hour away from Calgary. The mountains were beautiful and so was the little town.

Great grandma Smart, Aunt Becky, Grandma Mary, Ella and I rode the Gondala ride up the mountain to meet the group that hiked up. We saw them close to the top so Evan took a picture of us.

Friday was the wedding. The weather did not cooperate but at least it didn't rain. It was only 50 some degrees! Ella was supposed to walk down the aisle but did not do it. She is just too shy! She was a very good girl throughout the entire day, well for me anyways. She was very clingy and wouldn't even let anyone help us, so by the end of the night I was exhausted. Daddy was busy doing his part-Best Man so we didn't see him much that day. The wedding turned out beautifully and we were glad to be part of their day. We left the dance early so that Ella could get to bed. She couldn't handle anymore!

Grandma and Grandpa were able to steal her for just 1 dance.

We stayed with Alana's uncle who had a 1 year baby and Ella loved to help her eat. She will be a great big sister.

On Saturday we headed back to Cando. We did the drive in 2 days so we didn't get home until Sunday evening. It felt great to be home again and great to know we didn't have to be in the car for another 3 whole days. We relaxed and got plenty of G&G time from both sets of grandparents.

Of course, we can't go home without riding the 4-wheelers

What a cute family picture!

Ella loved running around grandma's big yard.

On Thursday we left for home, we thought instead of driving long hours in 2 days we would take our time getting home. We took a different route and went through Kansas City, mainly because Evan wanted to go to a Twins game, how convienient. We had a great time, although since Ella was in the car half the day she didn't want to sit at all so we ended up playing in the outfield experience, which had a carousle and other fun kid games.

She loved the carousle.

Then on Saturday we made it to St. Louis and went up in the arch and took a tour of the Anheuser Busch Brewery. It was really cool, of course, I couldn't enjoy the free drinks at the end but the whole factory and grounds were so clean. We even saw the Clydsdales and the dalmation, I was surprised that the dog was just laying beside the horses. I thought they made them sit by the horses for pictures. It was cute, anyways!

The pod that took us up to the top of the arch. It was crazy small for six people, including Evan.

Vacation time

Today is our 2nd anniversary and we are lucky to know wonderful friends who watched Ella on Monday so Evan and I could go to dinner and a movie. It was great, I don't think we have done that since last year on our anniversary so it was much needed.

We have been busy getting ready to make the trip to ND and Calgary for Evan's brother's wedding. It will sure be a lot of driving so I hope we make it. Evan might just decide to ditch Ella and I because with Ella fussing and me peeing every half hour he won't get anywhere. Let's hope WE all make it! We leave Friday around 3pm and are planning to drive through the night so Ella can sleep, home for 2 days and than on the road again to Calgary- another 12 hours so we are taking it in 2 days so Ella doesn't get too fussy. We will be there from Tues-Sunday and home again for 4 days and on the road again. It's going to be crazy! So we haven't done too much other than prepare for this long trip.

OHHHH we did get Ella's ears pierced. I finally had the guts to do it and she cried more when they were marking her ears, she did great! She hasn't even touched them since. I'm so proud of her. As far as the potty training goes she has regressed back to peeing/pooping in her pants, she still sits on the potty but doesnt't like to go in it. So its a little frustrating but since the big trip won't help I'm not too worried about it. We will push it when we get back home in the end of Aug.

We met Erin and Aiden at a mall last week so we could see them before we left. The kids had fun and we can't believe how much they are alike.
